Patrick Larsen stands alone as an artist and a person who often went his own way – a great man who unfortunately died at an early age in 1986. It was Patrick’s last wish that his pictures should go to the Museum after his death. Patrick was first trained as a house-painter. Later he was at the Academy of Fine Arts, where his teachers predicted a great future for him as an artist. Patrick often portrays people going through difficult times mentally and socially – people sleeping in the alley, anxiety, empty streets in the city or just everyday life. Topics as light, Christ, woman – as a whore or Madonna – are common in Patrick’s works. He succeeded in filling his pictures with strong emotions, like hopelessness, agony and anger – emotions that he was only too familiar with.
