Museum Ovartaci at Dokk1

Starting May 16th at DOKK1, Museum Ovartaci will host an exciting pop-up exhibition along with many creative workshops inspired by the artist Ovartaci.

During this period, you can meet Museum Ovartaci on the ramp leading up to DOKK1. Here the museum will provide an inspiring look into our interesting collection of artworks. Museum Ovartaci reopened in May 2023 in Kulturhus Bunkeren in Aarhus N close to Randersvej and Ringvejen with great modes of transportation leading to the front door.
During the time at DOKK1 you can participate in the creation of a piece of artwork that will remain part of the museum’s collection. So drop by and join the museum’s creative energy!

Every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from May 16th to June 2nd, volunteers from the museum will be present to take care of the visitors at DOKK1

Opening of The Elefant in the Room

On Friday 17th May at 14 the opening of the new temporary exhibition The Elefant in the Room on the square in front of the museum shop will take place.

The exhibition is part of Psykiatrifonden’s project “Find the elephant – Oplev Aarhus” in Aarhus during the summer months of 2024.

The exhibition’s theme is inspired by the metaphor “the elephant in the room” with selected works from artists in the collection. The exhibition asks why it is so difficult to talk about mental health, even when studies show that mental health issues is the new epidemic in Denmark.

The premise in the exhibition is to acknowledge and embrace all the emotions of life – the good and bad ones. The exhibition aims to become a conversation starter for the difficult topics that hopefully will become more normal every time we talk about it

Museum Garden

The Garden connected to the exhibitions is now open for the season.

The garden called Hortus Conclusus represents the little green universe in the middle of the museum.

When visiting the garden, all senses are tested. In the garden you will find a Japanese cherry blossom tree currently blooming along with many different flowerbeds. The creative workshop has created the beautiful ceramic jugs and we invite everyone to water the flowers and plants during the summer months.

We look forward to welcoming you the garden and museum.
